Darknight Caged have a death doom style all of their own, I can't explain in words by how much I like Caged's music, the pure heaviness and repeated pulverising of slick doom metal. From Roving About the Earth is the instruction manual into hell itself, a story of destruction told through five doomy death songs. Favorite track: Held Still Under Running Water.

What's more, the kind of hell you don't want to leave. Ecstasy through (ear)pain. Wtf do you use for guitar effects, guys? Reminds me of the Eaters of the Soil's trombone.

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal
